Printer Friendly Version Serbian and Iraqi Foreign Ministers discuss promotion of cooperation in economy, education, culture @ 27 October 2017 12:55 PM

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic had talks today with his host, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq, Ibrahim Al-Jaafari.

Minister Dacic underscored the importance of friendly relations between the two countries as well as the existing prospects for their further promotion. The Head of Serbian diplomacy expressed his full support to the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Iraq.

Minister Al-Jaafari thanked for the assistance the Republic of Serbia provided to the Republic of Iraq in countering terrorism and for the support extended in the preservation of its territorial integrity, underlining in particular that Serbia could further count on the full support of Iraq concerning the preservation and protection of Serbia's territorial integrity.

The interlocutors agreed on the necessity to develop economic ties, in the coming period, but also cooperation in education and culture and development cooperation, noting also that it was important to encourage parliamentary friendship groups from either country to promote their work as well as to re-launch the activity of the Joint Economic Committee.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iraq also stressed the importance of Serbian companies taking part in the reconstruction and development of Iraq, referring to the years-long experience dating back to the time of the SFRY and the selfless friendship between Serbia and Iraq.
