November 28th 2018 - "Iraq, for a long time, highly values good relations with the Republic of Serbia, which is a basis for further strenghtening of relations in various sectors including trade, investment and culture", stated the First Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Hassan al-Kaabi during the meeting with the Serbian Ambasador, Uroš Balov.

The two sides discussed Iraq's latest support for Serbian efforts to prevent the so-called  "Kosovo" to become a member of Interpol, at the recently held General Conference of the organisation in Dubai. Al-Kaabi remarked that Iraq's foreign positions are enshrined in the Constitution, proclaiming respect of international laws and sovereignty end territorial integrity of countries. 

Ambassador Balov expressed gratitude for the support and emphasised the importance of extending economic and political relations between the two countries. Also, both sides agreed on necessity of urgent ratification of the Agreement on canceling visas for diplomatic and service passports by the Iraqi Council of Representatives.
